Choosing a Profitable Niche

Internet Marketing, Uncategorized  Comments Off on Choosing a Profitable Niche

Choosing a profitable niche is one way to sell a product or service online. If you are brand new to the internet and want to make money, there are several ways that this can be achieved. There are several ways to choose your niche but most people will tell you to pick something you know a lot about or you are passionate about. That may be true but if your passion is about something that would not be interesting to others, then you will have to choose something else.

Choosing a Profitable nicheNow when you first start your online business, you have to decide what niche you are going to be working in. There are several very popular niches and if you are just starting out, you may or may not want to try them. Three of the most popular are:
Internet Marketing
Health and Fitness
Weight Loss

Now being popular does not mean that you would not be successful in that niche. You would have to find a sub-niche or a micro niche. If you were going to look at health and fitness and you were passionate about yoga, as an example – you may pick a sub niche like “Staying Fit and Healthy Practicing Yoga.”

There are some really easy ways to ascertain if your passion or interest can be profitable.

1. See if there are already products being sold in that niche – just go to Google and type in your keywords. This will show you how many sites there are when you type in that particular keyword.

2. Check at Amazon and see if there is a magazine and or a book about it. There may be several magazines about your chosen niche.

3. Next head over to Clickbank and see if there are any books about it there.

4. Go to the Dummies book site and see if there is a book in the Dummies Group.

5. Now also use the Google keyword tool to check how many people are searching for that niche keyword.

If you have established that it is a profitable niche, then your next step is to register your domain name.

Let me know if you have found some of these suggestions helpful.

Keyword research is actually a part of Search Engine Optimization. What you are aiming for is getting the correct keywords or keyword phrases in your niche that a visitor is searching for. This is not really a difficult task.

To begin to search for relevant keywords, there are several keyword search tools you can use but I would suggest the free version of Google Keyword Tool or the paid version of Noble Samurai or wordtracker. Google keyword tool will give you all the information you need to allow you to make a decision on what keywords, both long and short tailed, you should use. Long tailed keywords usually consist of three or more keyword joined together.

Keyword research can be very time consuming but if done correctly, can help get your site up into the top ten with Google for your domain name or URL.

A good site contains the information that people are searching for. When you go to Google Keyword tool and you type in the keyword you want and the captcha. Google will automatically show you a very large list all related to the keyword you entered. Go through the list and select no more that ten but you may only want to select five.

Always select keywords or phrases that have lower searches per month. This way you will be able to be more successful, because less competition, means that you can get you site up the rankings faster. Many times people type in long phrases when they are searching for information.

Remember when you start to write you site pages always keep in mind the amount of keyword you can use. A density of 3-5 % is what is required. I have seen some sites that say up to 10% but I would prefer less. There are free sites that will analyse your URL and let you know the percentage of keyword or keyword phrases you have used. Never use a higher percentage than this because your work could be regarded as spam and blacklisted.

Your main keyword should always appear in your domain name. Therefore always select your domain name carefully. If you have the right keyword combination in your domain, it is likely that people typing in your keywords will arrive at your site.

This should not be a hard decision – simply choose a niche that you want to target. If you were going to target the weight loss industry, you would use something like “Easy Weight Loss”. Before starting a blog, if you know the subject you want to write about, go to Google Keyword Tool. Type in the whole title and see what keyswords are the most searched.

This is one of the most popular niches and hardest to get into. The word “weight” has over 45million searches around the globe each month but even a higher amount of searches is carried out on the word “fitness”. Over 55.6 million search for that word globally each month. This should give you some idea how important to use the correct keywords in your blog.

Whatever title you pick, it must be interesting so as to catch the visitors’ attention. There are several ways you can do this but you should try and keep the majority of what you write on your blog, relevant to the URL.

What you need is good quality, unique content and pick about 5-10 top key words and use them with a density of approximately 3-5% throughout your blog. I prefer to stay around the 3-4% because remember you title is also counted because it has your key words in it also.

There are several free blogging platforms but most marketers prefer to use WordPress on Cpanel and purchase their own domain name. A few of the more popular free sites are, Blogger or Blogspot (this is part of Google), Hub pages, Weebly, Scribd and Squidoo. Squidoo, however, does not call anything posted on the site a post; instead it is known as a lens.

Most of these free sites are similar but please when you go to each one, read their terms of service because in that respect they are not the same. If you violate their terms of service, you may be given a warning to fix the breach within 24-48 hours. They will tell you what you have done incorrectly and if you do not fix it at best your blog or post will not appear and at worst, you can be banned from every using that platform again.

ScreenHunter_10 Jan. 27 13.11If you ask any marketer – what are some things that you find the hardest to do? You will receive a lot of different answers but most will tell you getting traffic and list building. It is not just a matter of building a list you also have of cultivate a relationship with that list.

Here are some ways that you may already be aware of and you may even be using them. You want the maximum traffic you can get. When you are writing for any platform always read their terms of service and be aware of the value of SEO.

Go to Squidoo and write a lens and create a back link to your site. Then go to Hubpages and write a post there. Both Squidoo and Hubpages are favored by Google.

If you are blogging – re post your blog on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Digg, Reddit, Stumbleupon, Google+ and Delicious. Add you latest blog to Google bookmarks. These all point back to your site.

Go to forums in your niche and make sure you include your site in your signature link.

Now they are the most know ways to get traffic and there are other as well but I have found some recently that I never knew existed. So I would like you to grab my free report that tells you some other methods.
