Well it is no big secret that I have not been online for almost a year now and that is far too long to be away. Different things happened that stopped me from being online but it is now the time to get back to making my business successful. With a lot of help from my friend Carol Amato and others in her group, I feel that I will make it.
There is no better feeling than knowing that you are doing what you like but online marketing requires dedication and hard work. There can be no procrastination – you have to have a plan and work to that plan. For me, I still use my spiral note book to write out my notes. I have seen some mentors who have shown elaborate spread sheets detailing their plans but I like to keep it simple. You have to know what you want to achieve and then break it down into what you want to accomplish each month then each week. By writing these plans out clearly with a time frame in place, your goals are easier to complete. In your plans, allow yourself some free time – this may be time for you to do some physical exercise or to spend time with family and friends.
Now that you know the direction you are going to take – start immediately. Remember that along the way, there could be failure as well as success. There is no such thing as permanent failure. Every day is another day to learn. If you feel that you have failed at a particular task – learn from your mistakes. There is no satisfaction in beating yourself up. We have all heard that doing the same wrong thing over and over again and achieving the same bad results – is a form of insanity.
Life in general gives us lots of challenges along the way. If you are trying to succeed online and haven’t to date, can you tell me the reason why? Is it lack of time, or are you not totally committed or do you lack the knowledge, or do you need some help to be successful? If this is the case then I suggest you join the group I have joined. Go here and sign up at http://www.carolamato.com
We have all heard the word mindset. What is the definition of mindset? A mindset is best defined as having a group of assumptions or ideas that you believe in. I know you have heard the phase “believe to achieve” but there is much more to it than that.
Nothing in life is achieved by just sitting dreaming about it. You have to be motivated and productive to achieve the results you want. Always set yourself achievable goals but you need a workable plan to achieve the goals.
The right mindset, for what ever you want to achieve, is the same and I will attempt to describe it for you.
Always be positive in your thoughts. Positive thinkers are happy and healthy whereas the negative thinker often suffers depression and health problems. This is a scientific fact. Depression can lead to some severe health issues. When a person is positive, people will be attracted to them like a magnet.
If you walk into a room where people are negative and unhappy, you want to turn and run, lock the door and throw away the key. Well – not that bad but you know you want out. I know I do not like being around negative people because they just drag you down and you feel worse yourself – to be truthful I try and avoid them.
The thoughts you have, and the actions you take, will dictate the results you achieve.
Now in the field of Internet Marketing, being positive is essential. The plan you follow is the logical sequence that will bring you results. Write out your long term plans and what you want to achieve and then break that into smaller pieces.
How do you know what the plan is? Easy – I suggest you get a coach who can guide you and help you achieve top results. A coach/mentor is an essential part of your success because they can guide and assist you. Notice I said assist – because you have to be prepared to do the work. Every day have your written plan and follow it and you will eventually reach the goals that you set yourself and then you create new goals and new plans. Follow what I am doing and you too can learn internet marketing.
These days, you need to be on top of your game when it comes to internet marketing. If you do not keep up with the current trends then your techniques may become outdated or even obsolete. You have to make sure you are staying current in the market.
Use a professional email address. If you are willing to set up a website for your business, you should have a professional email to go with it. Try using something affiliated with your site, and keep it simple enough to remember and store. Using a personal email will overflow your inbox and keep you from reaching your customers effectively.
Your online promotional practices should offer some incentive for customers to visit your site frequently for updates, new products, and upcoming sales. This also increases your traffic, sales, and marketing efficiency. Invite users to check in with your site on a weekly basis, where they can then enter their name and e-mail into a drawing for free merchandise or downloads.
Make your customers feel valued by offering them a free membership to your online club. You can use this club to email your customers about new products and offers, or ask your club members to join your page on social networking website. This means the friends of the club members will be more likely to find you on social networks.
A great internet marketing tip is to incorporate whatever you are selling into an article. Whether it is a story or a blog, your readers will be learning about your product without even realizing it. This is one of the best advertising strategies for people who want to maximize the effect of their internet marketing.
To help you market your product and/or service, you should have a decent web presence. It will be hard to market something if you only use social networks. What you will want is a professionally designed web page which highlights your strengths and the benefits of your product or service.
A great tip for success in internet marketing is to try making your banner ads not look like banner ads. People have gotten in the habit of ignoring banner ads. Design your banner ads to look like there is more content behind them or they are where someone needs to click to get to page two of the article.
Try different colors for your website. Find out more about what each color means, and how they are used in marketing. Make sure you use a color that is different from your competitors. Depending on what kind of products you sell, you will need a different reaction from your visitors.
Make use of sites like Digg and Reddit to get your message out there. These sites allow users to post news stories and then vote on the ones they want to see featured on the front page of the site. Direct commercial messages do poorly on these sites, so link to things on your site that they might want to see, and make the marketing message secondary.
In conclusion, you know that in this day and age it is crucial to stay in the know with the latest information on internet marketing. Don’t get left behind or become obsolete! Make your internet marketing a success!
I know there are several thoughts about finding a suitable niche – some people advise that you pick a subject you are familiar with and then create a site around that subject. This then will be your chosen niche. This may work for some but I think there is a much better way to choosing your niche – after all, if you want to make some money from it, you had better get it right.
If you do not want to make money from your site, pick any topic and create your site just for the fun of it. It may be about your travel adventures and you are just happy to blog away and display your happy snaps.
Where to start
To choose a niche, I would say the first step is to write a complete list of the topics or subjects that you are passionate about or you have a depth of information on. Remember you have to choose a domain name that reflects what your niche is. So you may start out with a very broad list and one of the topics is weight loss. Now using a keyword research tool, check how many searches that the keyword “weight loss” gets per month. This is probably the hardest niche to get into because it is one of the most searched. But if you picked a topic like – Lose Weight after Your Pregnancy, you would have a much better chance of success.
The second thing to be considered is who you are trying to attract to your site. Who is your targeted audience? If you are thinking of picking a hot topic like weight loss you must be able to provide advice and information that no one else is providing. There has to be a point of difference for your site to attract your visitor.
The third part of choosing your niche requires that you provide your visitor with information and or product that they are looking for. Go to forums, in your chosen niche, and see what questions are being asked. You simply have to be able to answer these questions – thoroughly research your subject and write a report covering all the topics.
Once you pick a niche, it doesn’t have to be the only one you ever choose. Some people are in four or five niches and are successful in each one.
As an internet marketer, you will need a list if you are going to sell information or a product. The information can be in the form of reports, newsletters, videos or ebooks.
These are some tips and facts you should know to help you get and maintain your list.
1. Make sure that you have a good clean website with good unique content. By this I mean, make it appealing to the eyes of your visitor. If it is cluttered and the content is poor, the visitor will click off very quickly.
2. If you want to give a free product away on your blog, have your opt-in box in at the top of the right hand side bar, in a prominent position. Again make it a “clean” looking opt-in, where you tell you visitors they can get their free download.
3. Always aim for your target market. This means if you have a blog on internet marketing, you do not offer a free book on how to lose weight. They may sign up to your list but the moment they find that they do not want this product, they will quickly unsubscribe. Give the customer what they are expecting.
4. Once a customer signs up to your list, you can in a few days send them a follow up email to see if all the questions they had were covered. This is the beginning of building trust in your relationship with the people on your list. By building trust you will be able in the future, sell to them over and over again.
5. If you really want to increase your list at a faster pace, go on the appropriate forum for whatever niche you are in, and offer a free book that could help people on that forum. It could even be a simple report that answers some of the questions that the members are asking.
6. Again on the forum, you can offer to do an ad swap. You can also go to adswap sites and do an adswap – again for a free product. This is not hard to do because on all adswap sites there are people with larger and smaller list. The great thing about these sites you pick adswaps only in your own niche.
7. Another method of getting people to visit your site and sign up is through writing articles. There are always people searching for articles and blogs on various subjects.
There are always people asking how to get more traffic and increase the size of their list. Here are some ways you can use. I am not putting these in any particular order.
After you write a blog, you want to get traffic to that blog. The first and easiest way, is to add a free product to your blog. Find blogs that are related to the same topic as your blogs and read their blog and add a comment. By visiting other people’s blogs you are inviting them to take a look at your blog and this will get you backlinks. This is a good strategy but can be very time consuming.
How do you get traffic from forums? When you sign up you will be able to get a signature block where you include your URL. Digital point will want you to have a minimum of 10 posts and wait 7 days before you can have a signature block. You ask questions or you answer questions but always portray yourself as an authority on your particular subject niche. If you have a book on driving traffic in your signature – never ask a question about traffic.
Another way in the Warrior Forum is to do a Warrior Special Offer (WSO). I believe that you have to have at least 40-50 posts to your credit before you can do this but they have just recently changed some of the rules in Warrior so I would check that out. The cost of a WSO is $40. When you do a WSO have an article that you have written or a series of videos or even an ebook but it must be unique. Do not tarnish your reputation with a doggy PLR that has been around for a long time. Just create a squeeze page, a thank you page and your download page.
Another strategy is to do ad swapping. You can ad swap in forums but be very careful and ask questions. Always state the number of clicks you will provide. If you are a member of a chat room you can always post the size of your lists and ask if anyone is interested in an ad swap. If the person you are swapping has a list of 1000 and you only have 500 be prepared to send out for them twice. Most people would be happy with that and often offer a different product for the second swap.
You can also do solo ads but only deal with a person who has a good reputation. It could cost you from 40cents to a dollar per click. IF you have a really good product you are selling, then you may be able to make your money back.
Another site I recommend is JVME.com. This is a joint venture site where there are thousand of members.
Don’t just rely on one strategy alone, still use any or all of these, because you will get the results and definitely see your subscriber list grow.
Writing your blog is a skill you should master. If you master this skill, you will find that it is easier to attract people to your site. Your aim is to inspire your readers and have them looking for more. Every time you write another blog you want them to come back and read it.
When someone is searching online they are really looking for some type of solution or explanation. They want information and knowledge and they want it presented in a logical fashion.
Unfortunately, this is not always the way. When you are writing anything, it must have a beginning, middle and an end or conclusion.
There are rewards out there for the successful blogger. Your blog is your gateway for people to enter your world. When you are writing a blog make sure there is a purpose to what you are writing.
Visualize your writing like creating a building. At first you have an empty lot but then you lay the foundations and you create the structure and finally the roof goes on. You now have something that you can be proud of.
This is how you blog progresses – just like that building you were visualizing. Although each level is separate – it is part of the entire structure. Each blog post you write is separate but it is part of the story you are telling. You may be just telling your story or you may be providing valuable information.
If done well, your blog can become a source of income for you. Most blogs have a squeeze page where the visitor can initially get a free product and normally there is also a product you can purchase.
The free product is often a report. The paid product is always related to the free product and is often a more in depth explanation of the subject. If you want to know how to create a product - check this out.
It is always easier to write on a subject you have knowledge on and you are passionate about the subject. It is imperative that you pick the right niche. If you pick a niche and you are not inspired about that niche you will find it very painstaking to write your blog.
No this is not going to be a travelogue, but so many of my friends out there want to know what the Gold Coast is like.
Just over 50 years ago the Gold Coast was going from a sleepy holiday village to a town where people wanted to live. They didn’t just want to enjoy the beautiful weather only on their holidays, they wanted permanent residence here.
Before this time the area had mainly been used to provide timber for both Brisbane and Sydney. The main timbers were cedar, beech, ash, teak and mahogany. The land had been surveyed in 1934 and there were originally only 70 blocks on offer at Broadbeach. These were mainly purchased by the timber cutters so they could build a home for themselves and their family.
This area is about 60 miles south of our state capital Brisbane. About seventy years ago with the advent of more cars on the road the Coast was discovered by a few more people but one smart developer decided to build a hotel here. It was called the Lennons of Broadbeach.
The locals called it the Broady. Now for those of you who have not a lot to do with Australians we are famous for shortening everything we can.
So before I go on… just see what I mean…
Vegimite ( a spread we have on toast) became vegi. The U turn became the U-E (said as two separate letters). The mosquito became the mozzie and an Australian became an Aussie. The postman became – yes you have probably guessed it – the postie and don’t forget we often do not say we live in Australia but we live in the Land of Oz.
Before that the only accommodation was what you provided for yourself. People would haul their caravans or pitch a tent right along the beach front.
Caravan parks sprung up everywhere and these places provided the basic facilities for just a few dollars per night.
Then some people decided to start buying the beach front land but because we did not even have a council, the land was the property of the state and you had to purchase your land from the state government.
Some clever people bought land for only a few hundred dollars and built holiday homes. This same land some 60 years later is valued at about 6 million dollars a block.
You read it correctly. Most of the original lots were an acre or more. There are very few left at that size now because people have sub-divided and put their newer homes on smaller blocks.
It didn’t take long for the word to get around how great it was to live here and 40 years ago there was a massive development overhaul of the entire beach front area. Then the council turned their attention to the suburbs and started providing infrastructure for the residents who were moving here.
People were realizing that with no pollution and plenty of space, this was the place they were going to move their family to live. Visitors poured in from the southern states, and quickly bought up the land.
Families started moving into the suburbs; house and land packages were around the $50,000 mark. Now around this same area a three bedroom house with two bathrooms and a double garage sells for ten times that amount.
The Gold Coast of today is very much like Miami Florida. Very similar weather and the beach area is covered with high rises.
We have a saying about the Gold Coast – “Here it is beautiful one day and perfect the next.” This really describes where I live.
Is it any wonder we have been named as one of the best beaches in the world! Since the late eighties tourists have flocked here to enjoy what we have to offer. They want to enjoy our sun, surf and sand not only this, but we have a great range of accommodation and great restaurants. We have become a world famous tourist mecca.
The world famous Surfers Paradise has mainly high rises now and at Broadbeach, which is the next beach down, you will find the tallest residential tower in the world – Q1. Prices per condo started at just over one million dollars when it was built 5 years ago.
Mainly people with families wanted to live in the suburbs so their children had a yard to play in and they could even have a dog or cat as a pet.
We live about ten minutes drive from the beach. So if you are ever in my area let me know.
I have just finished a massive clean up of my office. Well what I am saying, I de-cluttered it. There was so much paperwork, that I had printed out over a matter of time that I really had to go through it and I ended up throwing a lot of it out. But while I was doing this I came across the skeleton of a blog that I was going to write and when I looked at it I thought why not write it now.
The thoughts were about what were the qualities you needed to become a success in any endeavor your ever attempted. Believe it or not, it really is your “mindset” but let me expand on that because not everyone understands that.
Your beliefs are the most powerful of forces. Henry David Thoreau puts it so well: “What lies before us and what lies behind us Are small matters compared to What lies within us And when we bring out what is within Out into the world Miracles happen.”
You must be committed – remember be committed not interested. YOU must be prepared to do the hard work. You must take the time to acquire the knowledge to be able to do whatever it is you want to do. Now a word of warning here, knowledge without action is useless. You have to have the inner belief in yourself that what you have conceived in your mind can be achieved. You have to set goals (a goal is only a dream with a definite time line.) If goals are not set down in writing, how do you know you are following the right path? By reviewing your goals, you can see what you have achieved and what the next step is.
What this comes down to that you are persistent and focused and that you do not stumble at any hurdle. If you come to a problem, whatever it may be, find a solution.
I remember as a child (I played the violin) being told – “practice makes perfect”. Sorry, I must not have practiced as well as I should have because I never reached the point of perfection there. But as an adult, this saying takes on a whole new meaning. The people who are successful are the people who will, if necessary, perform the same task over and over till they achieve the results they desire. No one is a success overnight –but we hear that many times, but later we hear the true story of how they have achieved their goals. There has been a lot of hard work before they were a success but one common thread, in every story like this, is they believed that they were going to achieve.
So if you have the desire to be successful, you may need help along the way. You may need to get a mentor to help you and keep you on track.
